Tom Reestman // Hello and welcome to my twin blogs:
If you want to grow as an individual, you have to do things that are hard in order to make it easier for you to do difficult things in the future.
This is so true, and it never ends. I mean, you shouldn't reach a point in your life -- especially your professional life -- where you feel you no longer have to keep stretching or challenging yourself.
If you feel you're there, I suggest you reconsider.
There are times where the best tool to use is the one that lets you accomplish the task immediately–even if it is slightly awkward to use.
This is so true. I've seen time and again where the search for the "best" method took longer than it would have just to do the thing with a "lesser" technique.
Optimized solutions make sense for work that will be done repeatedly, but much of what we do are one-off tasks. Use the tool at hand and move on.
