Tom Reestman // Hello and welcome to my twin blogs:
"The silk fiber was gathered from the female golden orb spider (Nephila madagascariensis) ... These spiders are found throughout the tropics and are known as golden orb weavers for their big, gold-colored webs."
An amazing textile woven exclusively from spider silk. I'm not sure what compelled people to resurrect an imperfect art (spider silking) from a century ago, but it's beautiful. It's important to note the spiders were not harmed, always being released back into the wild.
More pictures and a video at the above link.
Physicist Axel Mellinger pieced together this image of the night sky out of 3,000 individual images. Mellinger traveled 26,000 miles, taking images in South Africa, Texas and Michigan, then added data from two space probes. Yes, it's hardcore.
Just one of 32 beautiful pictures at The Big Picture. Great pictures of a great time of year.
As someone who appreciates poems and trees, I'm not sure I can agree with Kilmer. The link above provides beautiful pictures of the latter to help you decide, though I suppose the decision is easy if you're not a fan of meter and/or rhyme.

The most prominent feature in the image is a ring with dozens of bright spots. A shock wave of material unleashed by the stellar blast is slamming into regions along the ring's inner regions, heating them up, and causing them to glow.
There is plenty of natural beauty here on earth, but for even more allure look up to the skies. Nine more at the above link, some of which can be viewed with amateur telescopes.
